Siltcoos Lake (sil-koos)[1] is the largest lake on the Oregon Coast of the United States. Serving as the origin for Siltcoos River, it is located about six miles south of Florence, Oregon. The lake has a mean elevation of eight feet above sea level. Siltcoos Lake is a popular destination for fishing on the central Oregon Coast and is home to trout, perch, bass, catfish and coho salmon. Siltcoos Lake Seaplane Base is also located on the lake. In September 2007, a toxic algae bloom made the lake unfit as a water source for lakeside residents, including the people of Dunes City.[2][3]
